The new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is a mid-range music-focussed mobile and it´s Nokia's first touch enabled Symbian S60 mobile. Other key features include a 3.2-inch touch-screen, 3.2-megapixel AF camera with dual-LED flash, VGA front camera, A-GPS, HDSPA, up to 16GB of storage via microSD and loud speakers. The 5800 XpressMusic price will 279 Euro, 129 UK Pounds and $227 USD. This is also Nokia’s first Comes With Music phone, a newly launched music service that offers unlimited music downloads for the first year of ownership.

Nokia takes aim at Apple with touch-screen phone

Finnish phone maker Nokia launched its first touch-screen phone on Thursday, intending to one-up Apple's iPhone on features and be competitively priced.

Nokia has clearly taken a cue from Apple in its design of the 5800 Xpress Music, formerly known as "Tube." The device, due for release by year's end, looks quite similar to Apple's iPhone, which has a single panel of smooth glass on the front.

Frustrated researcher details iPhone security bugs

Tired of getting the brush-off from Apple, Israeli researcher Aviv Raff Thursday disclosed technical details about a pair of iPhone security flaws that he first reported more than two months ago.

Raff, best known as a browser vulnerability researcher, told Apple in July that he had uncovered bugs in the iPhone's Mail application as well as in its version of Safari that could be used to trick users into clicking on malicious links and boost the amount of spam they face.

Symbian Series 60 takes on Apple and Google

Symbian has released the latest version of its Series 60 (S60) mobile phone operating system, and has added features to make it more competitive with Apple's iPhone and Google's Android.

The fifth edition of the S60 will integrate touch screen control to new handsets, support for higher screen resolutions and a widescreen mode for viewing.

Mobile internet use has also been improved, with touch scrolling of web pages and support for Adobe's Flash Lite 3 built in.

Motion control has been added, so that users can silence an incoming call by simply turning the handset upside down.
