Nokia to Get Royalty Payments from RIM
Submitted by addie_alone0313 on Wed, 12/24/2008 - 17:36Nokia said today it would receive an up-front payment and royalties from Blackberry-maker Research In Motion (RIM) for use of its wireless technology patents.
Nokia said RIM has renewed a multi-year patent license agreement with it, but declined to comment on the size of the payments.
The deal covers use of GSM, WCDMA and CDMA2000 patents.

Carphone and O2 in Motorola tie-up

Motorola’s comeback strategy will not start until the second half of next year and will involve an exclusive multi-handset alliance with just two partners, Mobile can reveal.
Senior executives at the US manufacturer plan to focus on a small number of countries in western Europe and narrow the company’s focus further on two key channels: Carphone Warehouse and O2.
The move has involved a reduction of the sales force in Europe, with no major product announcements until the run-up to Christmas next year.
BlackBerry Curve 8900 Preview
Submitted by miracle_strike on Tue, 10/14/2008 - 03:26T-Mobile Germany have accidentally let slip details on the new BlackBerry Curve 8900, a slightly cut-down GSM-only version of the BlackBerry Bold 9000.
According to T-Mobile, the Curve 8900 has both WiFi and GPS, comes with a 480 x 360 pixel display (a higher pixel count than the 9000), Bluetooth and some unspecified type of digital camera.
Samsung i7110 Preview
Submitted by miracle_strike on Tue, 10/14/2008 - 03:24It hasn't yet been officially announced, but some details of the Samsung i7110 have been let slip by Samsung along with a low-resolution picture (below) that give a good idea about the successor to the Samsung i550 Symbian smartphone. Although we don't have the full details, we do have enough for a mockup (pictured right) along with a pretty decent set of technical specifications.
